When my photographer pal went to Bruno Gallery for a shoot yesterday, I tagged along just to see what sort of ‘atas’ places he photographs. And I was not disappointed. Unlike at museums, for instance, there were no descriptions of what each artpiece was about. There’s just a QR code to scan for each item you’re interested in. And definitely no prices. I suppose it’s where Crazy Rich Asians shop (yes, I finally caught the movie yesterday!) – if you see something you like, you get it regardless of the price. In this blogpost, I’ll show you three of the pieces I kind of fell in love with.
First up, there’s this bear with a look that says “Go ahead! Take a picture of me.” So I did.
So cute, right? Because it’s a pretty big piece, I didn’t even bother asking for the price because I’m sure I won’t want to know. But I love love love the whimsical design, the take-time-to-smell-the-flowers attitude, and the sweet pastel shades which are so comforting to look at. Come home with me, bear!
And this next one isn’t a sculpture. It’s actually my photographer pal, Bosco, who was caught in action using a Spectrometer – a fancy device that identifies the lighting conditions in that space. That compact, handheld device also costs S$2,000! WHAT?! Actually, photographers should be prime targets for robbers. Because their gadgets cost A LOT OF money. My pal is often seen pulling his large luggage around filled with camera equipment. And sometimes I like asking about the individual prices just for fun, and to find out how ‘ridiculous’ they are.
I should totally ask Bosco to do a “What’s In My Bag?” post for me, and state how much each item within costs! #Idea
Here’s another piece I like.
I’m attracted to colorful stuff, really. Vibrant, cutesy, whimsical, creative stuff. This next one too…

Bruno Gallery is located at Level 1 of Tanglin Place (91 Tanglin Road). There’s a smaller office closer to the main road, and the rest of the gallery is at the back after you go past the set of escalators. Definitely drop by and visit!
