Was craving for some noodles this week when we were in the AMK Ave 10 area. Had thought of popping by the food centre there but got distracted by Nagara Thai which is located right next to the carpark. So we ate Thai food instead. He ordered the Railroad Fried Rice with Beef ($6.50) while I had the Tom Yam Noodles ($6) and we shared the Pandan Chicken (4pieces at $6.50). I think we enjoyed the Pandan Chicken the most – so tender and flavorful, it is a must-order the next time we visit! The fried rice was a bit of a letdown while the tom yam noodles came in separate bowls:
I selected the clear tom yam soup and it came with ONE prawn, some mushrooms and I think two slices of fish. The soup’s a lot more sour than spicy and really quite ordinary. I like that the noodles are served separately so you can add your own mix of sweet / spicy chili sauces that are available in small containers at each table. Also, they serve complimentary iced water, there’s no GST and no service charge. More importantly, the staff are friendly and smiley!
The menu’s below. I’d probably try their Steam Seabass with Lime and Chili ($23) next time as I’d spotted another couple eating that. Also, the Phad Thai here LOOKS very good. I’m not sure about the taste, obviously, so I guess I’ll have to find out next time.
Two units away is Galettes, a cafe I like to go to for waffles and gelato. They’re now 1 year old and the waffles are going at half price (I believe) so you pay $2 for a plain waffle…
I picked the Chocolate and Durian flavors, with chocolate sauce served on the side:
Totally forgot to pay via FavePay for 10% cashback (@_@) – will do so next time. Or, probably, we’ll be having dessert at the other ice cream cafe by the side road…
Will let you know if it’s any good.
Meanwhile, Pine Garden is tempting me again with its new flavors: white rabbit, brown sugar bbt, and that sea-salt caramel just looks SO GOOD:
I’m not quite sure what the promotion is about… Buy 6 and get $6.60 off or 60 cents off? Didn’t bother asking as we didn’t want to buy 6 slices of cake. We bought a chicken-potato bun (which was ok) and red bean bun (which was pretty good).
