I’d recently won 4 vouchers for art jamming sessions (usual price: $48) at Arteastiq and invited three pals to join me yesterday at Arteastiq, Mandarin Gallery. We’d picked the earliest time slot (11am to 2pm) and arriving early has its perks – you get to select your preferred seat, for one. And I wasn’t expecting this but the complimentary vouchers also entitled us to one drink each and I went for the cold lychee tea, as usual.
Here’s Steven demonstrating the broad brush strokes as he started on his masterpiece inspired by his son’s famous work:
Bosco’s take on the equally-famous ‘Scream’ painting was hilarious. I suggested that he name this ‘Valentine’s Day’ as there’s a couple in the background apparently kissing, and the screaming figure is running away from them while holding a camera above his/its head. So creative / imaginative!
I went with cutesy kitty…
And then we had a fabulous lunch at Arteastiq…

Wayfarer’s Picnic – Shell Pasta Beef Bolognese $16

Waltz in the Wave – Squid Ink Spaghetti $18

Myth of the Sea – Sambal Sea Bass & Dry Laksa $25
I was the one who had the sea bass + laksa and I have to say that it’s truly delicious. I would order this again.

Surfing with Mermaids – Pan Seared Salmon $20
I like how there’s a buzzer on each table which you can use to get the attention of the wait staff…

It’s pretty impressive how this business has survived so many years. The winning concept of a luxurious setting (where taitais can have high tea) paired with scrumptious food and the option of having a truly relaxing art jamming sesh with everything you need provided for you – drink, apron, paints, brushes, palette, canvas.
I’m certainly looking forward to more art jamming sessions at Arteastiq. After all, I do still have lots of wall space at home.
