Citiponics’ Pesticide-Free Veggies Are Grown Above A Carpark in AMK

Veggies a little stressed because of the intense heat in the afternoon, but they’ll be alright after the cool of the evening sets in.

Sometimes, I am envious of folks who live in other estates in Singapore. Especially Ang Mo Kio! There’s this amazing farm that’s situated above the multi-storey carpark located behind AMK Hub. Citiponics last held its Community Market in March, where folks got to purchase Crunchy Cai Xin, Georgina Lettuce and Sweet Basil directly from the farm. Unfortunately, due to the Circuit Breaker, you won’t be able to pop by any time soon. But you can get their veggies from FairPrice nearby. 😉 Actually, I think there’s probably no better way to convince your children to eat their vegetables than having them harvest (if not grow!) those vegetables themselves. 😉 An ST reporter has done an article on the farm, and you can read it here. This post is largely about my own experience with tasting Georgina Lettuce for the first time. 😀

Check out the cool swing. 😀 I think the operators are quite chill.

I’ve met the Citiponics founder, Mr Teo, who’s so passionate about farming. 7 years of research and now he has a farm in Kang Ching Road (Jurong) and this one in AMK. He has a good sense of humor. Joked that he might host a giveaway in future and participants have to guess which plants will be grown from the seeds he’s showing. Haha! It’s an impossible task. I know because I’ve grown veggies myself – cai xin, kai lan, and more. The seeds of many veggies look identical. XD

1800 sq m. So I’ve read.

These babies take time to grow. As much as the G wants farmers to ramp up production, it’s not gonna happen overnight. 😉

Here’s some of what I’ve done with the Georgina Lettuce. 😀

I’ve actually never had Georgina Lettuce before. So, first, a quick stir-fry with garlic, tomatoes and tofu – basically whatever I had left in the fridge:

And for breakfast, I panfried the frozen “pancakes” (pratas?) from the LIANG Sandwich Bar brand, opened a can of tuna, added a soft-boiled egg, and rinsed the lettuce for my very own sandwich…

I really love gooey egg yolks 😀

Actually I also have Japanese mayo at home. But you know… #guilt

The Georgina Lettuce tastes just a little bitter when eaten on its own. But I love the crisp and freshness. And when stir-fried, it’s so tasty too. I didn’t even add any salt!

Now I’m just wondering how else I’m going to incorporate the lettuce into my home-cooked meals. 😀

I’ve heard the farm’s growing Nai Bai, which will be ready in some 9 to 10 days. So go stalk them on social media. 😀 I definitely want to visit again when the Circuit Breaker’s over. I want to try the cai xin and nai bai <- one of my favorite veggies.
