Century Square: Ho Kee Soya Sauce Chicken by A-One F&B Group

So the darling made another Eatigo reservation for Ho Kee at Century Square. We’ve been here before but I did not blog about that visit, I think. And our unreliable memories of what’s good here has made me determined to write about this one. 😂 And while you may be familiar with A-One porridge, the A-One Group has brands like Green Signature (for vegetarian food), Hey Yummy! and of course, Ho Kee.

The Ho Kee eatery at Century Square is popular with young families. Come by early, say, at 11am, for your lunch, and you might be able to get those comfy seats and no one has to be seated on wooden chairs. 😉 They’ll ask if you want the braised peanuts, achar and wet wipes before actually putting them on your table and on your bill. So that’s great.

We selected only three items today.

We picked the Stir-fried Prawn with Sambal and Vegetables ($15.90) as it seems to make more ($$) sense than paying $2 less but getting a platter of 4 vegetables (which is called 四大天王 or the 4 Heavenly Kings). At least this comes with a few prawns. And while it looks like it could be spicy and terribly salty (cue the white rice), it wasn’t! 😀

We also ordered the Fried Vermicelli with Seafood ($13.90).

The vermicelli came in a claypot (or is it a stonepot?) Great for keeping the food warm. And this dish is also good for sharing though the taste is not exceptionally memorable. You’ll need the pickled green chilies and chili padi. 😉

And in the very first picture you see above, that’s a platter of Soya Sauce Chicken and Honey Char Siew. For these two items, they charge $13.90 OR you can simply select just one item and pay $7.90! The Hainanese Chicken was unavailable so we picked the Honey Char Siew instead, which I enjoyed. The Soya Sauce Chicken was not as delightful as we got the bony bits. 😅

For these three items alone, without any drinks or add-ons like peanuts and achar, the bill still came up to $25.70 after including GST and service charge. I think Ho Kee is certainly worth a visit with 50% discount via Eatigo but can be a little pricey otherwise.
