I’ve had KFC’s Ohayo Porridge for breakfast two days in a row already. XD I first tried it yesterday, at Punggol Plaza. I’d wondered what the difference was – between this Ohayo Porridge and KFC’s Original Recipe Porridge. The former costs 20cents more when purchased a la carte. The staff told me that it’s only the topping that’s different but that Ohayo’s tastier. I took her word for it… and my goodness! It was! However, when I ate this again today at Waterway Point’s KFC, it was evident that the taste isn’t consistent. And in case you think that oh it’s because I ate it two days in a row, it has lost its ‘shine’. Ha! Just check out this comparison:
(Left) Yesterday’s tastier porridge vs today’s whiter-looking and a tad more bland porridge:
What I had yesterday was a lot yummier. Perhaps the ‘chef’ had included more of that yummy topping. I don’t know what’s in the blend. I know there’s seaweed and sesame seeds but what else? Hmm…
Anyway… for just under 5 bucks, you can get an Ohayo Porridge Meal together with coffee and a hashbrown. If you wish to have an iced milo instead of coffee then you’ll have to top up 95 cents.
Anyway, I do not recommend visiting KFC on weekends. There’s such a crowd! Yesterday, there were four ladies preparing the food and still it took almost 20 minutes before I got mine. Sigh.
I think there’s a lack of a proper system so the ‘fast food’ here becomes terribly… slow. In fact, they even missed out my order and I’d been waiting almost 20 minutes! I heard them calling out the order numbers for customers who’d ordered after I did… and it was only when I checked with them did the staff quickly scramble to get me my food. Haiz.
Anyway, I’m glad the porridge I had yesterday was so good.
Today’s was a little disappointing. Also, the Riser with egg was so incredibly dry. Look at this:
Dry burger bun, egg already overcooked with yolk turning powdery. My darling added some chili sauce just to make this burger a tad more moist.
I think all of us know that eggs with runny yolks are the best. But I suppose restaurants are hesitant to serve those just in case some customer gets a tummyache. So everything has to be 100% cooked. (>_<)
Well, I don’t think I’ll be having this porridge again soon at Waterway Point. Perhaps when I visit Punggol Plaza again, I will.
