Fat Po is a really pretty cafe located at Tebing Lane in Punggol. My darling and I have walked past this place a couple of times but never dined here as we usually have a chuckle at the name and leave. But I had lunch here today with my pal Julia – birthday treat from her. (THANK YOU!!!) And I found that there’s a lot to love about this place. No wonder it was about 80% full during lunch hour, which is saying a lot about their business as it’s a weekday, and this place is super ‘ulu’. Assuming each group of diners spent $100 on average, then Fat Po made at least $2000 during lunch, I’d think.
I picked the BBQ Pulled Pork Burger you see above. I love the bolo buns they make fresh daily. Nice, crispy crust…
Love their tableware too, obviously. And my pal had the har cheong gai burger… and that slab of chicken is ridiculously large…
While I had the Homemade (Lychee) Iced Tea ($5.80), my pal went for the Chrysanthemum & Wolfberry tea that was served in a pot.
Few places serve up good lychee iced tea. My favorite’s at Arteastiq (Mandarin Gallery) but this is almost as good (for, maybe, half the price)… consider me impressed:
Another reason why Fat Po’s pretty awesome is that their menus have such fabulous pictures. AND some of the dish names made me laugh. Hokkien vongole anyone?
There are lots of hanging planters all over the cafe. It’s super gorgeous. I asked my pal if she thought all these plants are real. And she took a look around and said that some of them look too ugly to be fake. Hahaha! She’s brilliant. Smart and funny.
I think I’ll be back again. The Warm Choco Fudge Cake ($6) was a total waste of calories though. Tasted like one of those supermarket ones which you heat up in a microwave oven. I’ll remember not to order that again.
And oh! Apparently, Fat Po and Whisk & Paddle next door have the same boss. So the dessert menu at Fat Po features the items you’d find at W&P. Unfortunately, there was only ice cream and that not-delicious choco fudge cake today. Oh well. Till next time!
