WHEAT @ Punggol Plaza: Expected Bread, Found Cold Brew Coffee, Bought Meat-free Nuggets! :D

This shop called ‘WHEAT’ opened not too long ago at Punggol Plaza, and is located near the entrance. Despite the prime location, the previous tenants didn’t last long unlike, say, the Watsons store or the prima deli cake shop. From afar, I thought WHEAT sold buns, and I went in expecting to buy some bread for breakfast the next day. LOL! Turns out it’s just like baking supplies store Phoon Huat so you can certainly buy the ingredients and tools needed to make your own pastries at home. Totally not what I was looking for but I decided to have a look around the store anyway. Inside the chillers, I found cold brew coffee though!

And what got me interested was the range of meatless products from Quorn:

I’ve seen these products sold on tuckshop.sg, but at a higher price. Take the Swedish Style Balls, for instance. It’s $6 per pack at WHEAT but $7 on Tuckshop, and the Crispy Nuggets are priced at $5.90 per pack in store but $7 on Tuckshop. The advantage of making your purchase online is there’s free delivery with $100 spent.

I bought these 2 products to try.

And we had nuggets alongside our pasta dinner tonight! 😀 Ridiculously golden-brown nuggets which I pan-fried instead of baked since I don’t have an oven. If you have an airfryer, I think that works too!

They taste just like your regular chicken nuggets!

And the Swedish Style Balls, well, taste just like meatballs. Surprise, surprise. Bite into one and you’ll probably think it looks exactly like a regular meatball too!

Dinner was entirely meat-free though it may not look like it. Haha!

Want to get these Quorn nuggets or swedish style balls? Each pack contains either 16 nuggets (37cents per nugget) or 19 swedish style balls (32cents per ball).

While they may be meat-free, it doesn’t mean they are super healthy, ok?

Do read up a little on Quorn’s products:

https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide/quorn-good-you

https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2018/feb/12/quorn-revolution-rise-ultra-processed-fake-meat

These are still highly processed food products so there may be more oil, fat, salt and sugar than you’re comfortable with. Just check the ingredients labels before you make your purchase. 😉
