Some say that when you’re with the right person, every day is Valentine’s Day! Wahaha. But if people tend to spend a lot of money on Valentine’s Day, does that mean we want to do the same every single day… with this right person? I told my darling last weekend that from now on, I’m not getting him presents which cost more than S$50, unless it can be eaten right away. LOL. The reason for that being his losing his handphone (which I’d bought for him as a birthday present, and which cost over a thousand dollars sans contract) last weekend. Since I’ve known him, he has lost his handphone at least three times. The most recent loss occurred last weekend when the phone had slipped out of his pocket and landed somewhere in the middle of a busy road in Punggol. (@_@)
If you know how many heavy vehicles appear in Punggol on a daily basis, and the crazy number of cars there are too, you’ll probably GASP like I did when I was told his phone was lost. Should have gotten run over by some heavy vehicle and crushed into a million tiny pieces already.
But, as I’d always say, this guy’s born under a lucky star. A food delivery rider named Helmi actually found his phone and gave me a call! Helmi spotted the phone in the middle of the road when he was going by on his motorbike, did a U-turn and came back along the same stretch again and picked up the phone. OMG. The handphone got returned to my darling with nary a scratch on it. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! (Yes, we made sure to thank Helmi with a giftbag of snacks, a drink and an angpow!)
So… absolutely no presents today!
In an earlier blogpost about Impossible Foods, I’d said I’ll be cooking pasta for our Valentine’s Day dinner. That was the plan. Until my darling was too overzealous with opening my Shopee Supermarket packages this morning and slashed two Nissin cup noodles with a penknife. (@_@) Since they were the Tom Yum Seafood flavoured ones, that’s what we had for dinner. LOL! Instead of seafood pasta, it was tom yum seafood nissin noodles.
Bought large prawns, mussels, fish, tofu, tomato, veggies… and topped everything off with an egg, coriander and a dash of lime. And oh! We had a cake from Chateraise and milk tea from Playmade too. Yummy! No flowers. You already know what he did the last time I asked him to get me flowers, and he bought the LEGO bouquet. XD

We’d started the day with a trip to Scarlett Waterway Point, where I saw more of these gigantic bottles of popcorn. In the next picture, you’ll be able to see just how large they really are!

If popcorn’s not your thing, Scarlett also has ginormous cans of beer. LOL. There’s the 10L can going at $119.90 and a 2L one at $18.90! Perfect for that beer-loving friend of yours. XD

And lucky boy dabao-ed his lunch from Encik Tan… and guess what? He was (somehow) given two fried eggs instead of one! Plus, the chicken drumstick was HUGE. He really should have been a winner in the recent mega Toto draw since he’s so lucky!
And here’s a random picture of the chirashi dons he dabao-ed back last weekend. I don’t think there were any extra (free) ingredients though the toppings sure seem to have shifted somewhat on the ride home. Ha! One’s a Truffle Chirashi Don ($12.40) and the other is a Ninja Chirashi Don with an additional $3 worth of scallops (total: $14.40). Hmm. I appreciate the sizeable chunks of fish but found the rice incredibly dry and not the most palatable. However, this will probably taste a lot better when enjoyed in the shop.

Since every day should be Valentine’s Day, I think he won’t mind taking me there for a meal. Hahahaa!
