ten ten sashimi dons punggol

Everyone who lives in Punggol and has an active Facebook account has probably seen an ad for TEN TEN. I spotted it and alerted my darling. And my sis also messaged me about this particular ad. LOL. It was only a matter of time before we had to check out this stall for ourselves. In the picture above is their Salmon Sashimi Don ($8.50) and 3Kind Sashimi Don ($10.50) which we ordered for dinner today. In the same coffeeshop is another stall called FUKUDON which prides itself on being an “Asian Fusion Donburi Specialist”. <- We decided to save the dons from the specialist for another day, and only ordered their Homemade Potato Salad at $2.50!

Before he went to order this, I told my darling that it might turn out to be a REALLY SMALL portion of potato salad (‘cos only $2.50 mah) but it was a reasonable serving. And DELISH! I’d probably get a $5 serving next time ‘cos it’s good. Hehe!

I wonder if the counter’s accurate… like… 20 customers for the whole of today (until dinnertime) or if it’s been reset already. You know how some bubble tea shop ones are like at 289 or something…

So here are some of the stalls at the Food Village coffeeshop at Blk 660A Edgedale Plains, Singapore 821660. My darling made an astute observation: young folks can have their Japanese fusion cuisine while their parents / grandparents can have Teochew Fish Soup or caifan or zichar. There’s really something for everyone…

Ok… you’re probably wondering if it’s worth a trip here just to try the sashimi dons. And my answer is yes… the fish is good. There’s a lot of rice too, so if you’d like, order some sides from the other stall (FUKUDON). Besides potato salad, they do also have homemade chicken karaage ($4.50) and Crunchy Chili Chicken Karaage ($4.90), among other items.

And as for whether the sashimi dons matched up to the expectations caused by the ad… here are two of the pictures from the ad itself…

In this picture, you see the mouthwatering ikura (salmon roe) that is large and round and like mini bubble tea pearls… which pop in your mouth and are all kinds of wonderful. But what we were given today was the smaller roe… likely tobiko (flying fish roe) 😦

And here’s one picture which made me stop (scrolling) and just wonder how it made any sense at all…

The salmon sashimi don is priced at $8.50 and it has 8 slices of salmon sashimi (plus a few extra cuts) while the salmon sashimi only has SIX slices of salmon. So for just 50 cents more, won’t you order the don instead? Even if you’re not going to eat the rice? 😀

I don’t know when it started… but the darling and I have become foodies… he’s always going on and on about Michelin this-and-that, and absolutely has to check out every new kopitiam / kopitiam stall in Punggol. If there’s a new coffeeshop opening in Punggol, you can bet your last dollar that we’ll be visiting. XD
