During the afternoon on 30th Dec ’23, we made our way to Raku Inu Bistro and Bar, which is located in Flora View (AMK St 66 – actually not very close to our home in Punggol), as my darling had found this bistro on Eatigo and made a reservation for 3.30pm. To our horror, when we arrived, the staff told us that (1) they’re only open for business at 5pm and (2) they’d not received our reservation details via Eatigo. When I heard this, I immediately stepped out of the place. Evidently, they weren’t expecting us and were not at all pleased to have us around. The lady even said that she had a lot of cleaning to do (when I hear my mom say this, I know she wants us out of the way LOL). But my darling, having made the reservation, driven all the way there and parked and all, wasn’t so keen to leave. The lady checked the reservation details via his app again and again in disbelief, and then decided to let us have our meal. Uh-oh. (Sure seems like the beginning of a nightmare eh?)
She loudly proclaimed “This is why I HATE E***** – always c***-up.” Actually, I would have upped and left already. But I’m with someone who’s more stubborn and who loves Thai food.
Raku Inu is a pet-friendly establishment so you’re welcome to bring your dogs here and everyone can dine together. But erm… maybe when the chef’s happier.

Anyway, here’s a pic of our booking:

He ordered the Green Curry Chicken ($10) with rice ($1) while I had their Claypot Tanghoon w/Prawns ($10.50).
Notice anything strange in the picture below?

How about now? This is *not* ginseng I’m holding, by the way. XD

All these roots and all should be in the wastebin instead of the customer’s claypot. But… I understand… they’re upset. We basically *intruded* during their break time. For some reason, Eatigo allowed reservations to be made for those hours. So… whose fault is it? Is it a money-grubbing boss’s fault? Technical error? What?
Then… I found one more… so evidently the first one wasn’t an accident.

And some other random bits and pieces… something hard that felt like crabshell but there’s no crab in this dish… so…

In case you’re wondering, no, I did not send this dish back to the kitchen. Because it might be returned with even more unimaginable things. And truth be told, everything that was served that day was actually very tasty. I can imagine that most diners would be very happy with their meals here.
It’s just that for those unfortunate diners who show up at the *wrong* time or when the chef’s upset, they *might* get extra ingredients in their food?
After the meal, we still felt fine so I guess that while we may have had unexpected ingredients in our food, we’re lucky nothing else has happened. To be fair, the Thai food here IS pretty decent, but I don’t think I want to return to this place.
And no… I don’t think it’s actually the chef’s intention to use all parts of all plants in his cuisine. This photo is of a Thai place near my home… and you can see that the roots have been cleanly cut off…

Same thing for when I Google images for “Raku Inu Claypot Tanghoon”.
Eh Chef…
I’m not the stubborn one who insisted on dining here lah. (>_<) Don’t like that leh!
Also… thankfully we didn’t bring any pets because I honestly think THEIR medical bills are way more expensive than ours. A loved one’s cat had constipation (nothing more serious like a tumor or whatever) and the vet bill for that was $700+? WLE.
