My darling and I managed to pop by JB today while Melody was in school, and we had lunch at Ru Sim Thai Kitchen in AEON Mall Tebrau City. Ordinarily, we’d avoid places serving (predominantly) spicy food if we’re out with Melody, so today was quite a treat, actually. XD The food here is SO spicy – your nose might start running and your eyes will probably tear. But it’s all so good. From Mondays to Thursdays, there’s a set meal promo, starting from RM13.90! I picked the Thai-style Chicken with Rice & Tom Yam Soup, while he had the Pad Kra Pao Chicken with Rice & Tom Yam Soup (plus added on a glass of Thai Milk Tea for just RM4).
Ru Sim’s Tom Yam Soup is really good and absolutely hit the spot. Go ahead and order their tom yam dishes – you won’t go wrong with those.
We also had this Thai-style Steamed Squid for RM29.90, which was a ‘Chef’s Recommendation’ item on their menu.
In future, we’d probably try the Sambal Squid (RM22.90), Spicy Clam (RM22.90), or the Kam Heong Clam (also RM22.90)!
If you can’t really take spicy food but still wish to dine here, go ahead and order a milky beverage to take off some of the heat. XD
Also, we realised too late that there’s FREE fresh juices when you post a picture of your food on social media and tag them…
What we did notice was that the food took quite a while to be served, though there weren’t many diners at that point. So if you’re feeling super hungry, or even hangry already, you might want to dine elsewhere. If you can wait though, prices are decent, and the taste of the food is definitely memorable.
We spent just RM61.70 for this meal for two. And that works out to be S$17+ only!
