I attended a memorial service for Mr Lee Kuan Yew at the Kallang Theatre yesterday, upon an invite from my friend who works in Business China. Mr Lee is the Founding Patron of Business China (通商中国).
I was moved to tears.
I am from that younger generation that does not know Mr Lee Kuan Yew very well as we did not live through those turbulent times and cannot fully appreciate what he has done for the country. However, after watching many videos online, carefully appreciating the eulogies, and gaining insights into this man’s life from the stories shared about him (I particularly like the one about Mr Lee’s red box), I am deeply moved by the sacrifices Mr Lee Kuan Yew made for Singapore.
Also, he was not only the fiery political figure who got us to fight for our future and stand up for ourselves with “guts and gumption”, he was also that loving husband for Mrs Lee.
And I particularly like the two drawings of Mr and Mrs Lee Kuan Yew that you see above.

We will strive to keep Singapore a strong and cohesive nation, successful in our endeavors, and uphold what you hold dear – the education of our people, and the continued prosperity and progress of this clean and green city we call home. RIP.
