If you don’t already know, BreadTalk sells roasted sweet potatoes aside from buns, cakes and other pastries. And the roasted sweet potatoes are DELICIOUS. It’s probably the only item I buy from BreadTalk these days as I find that these sweet potatoes are not just tasty, but keep me feeling full for a long time, unlike pastries which just make me crave for more sugary foods after a while. And if you have older folks at home (parents, grandparents, etc), I’m quite sure they’ll love BreadTalk’s sweet potatoes which are sweet, soft (but not mushy), and slightly aromatic.
I’ll usually get 3 of them at one go because they are priced as such: 1 for $2.50, 2 for $4.80, 3 for $6.80. It makes more sense to get 3 as I can have one for lunch, one for a teatime snack, and keep the third one for the next day. Interestingly enough, there is no noticeable difference in quality when eaten the next day: it tastes just as good! (And I don’t keep them in the fridge either)
And why do the BreadTalk roasted sweet potatoes taste so good? It’s anyone’s guess. Firstly, I suppose it is because they use superior quality sweet potatoes imported from Taiwan. And what exactly is the ‘seasoning’ used? Apparently, “the sweet potatoes are glazed with unsalted butter and egg, with a pinch of salt and sugar”, according to a netizen who heard it from BreadTalk’s Facebook admin. I thought I also heard something about ‘condensed milk’ in-store, but no one really knows. And that’s the way it should be, really. Keep your recipes secret!
If you want to try these sweet potatoes, get them from BreadTalk outlets at Bedok Mall, BreadTalk IHQ, Bugis Junction, Causeway Point, Junction 8, nex, Novena Square, Paragon, Parkway Parade, Raffles City, Toa Payoh HDB Hub, VivoCity, Waterway Point, Westgate and Toast Box @ Suntec City and Lido.

And if you care about the environment, and do your best to reduce your usage of plastic bags, you might want to follow suit:
I bring my own metal container ($2) from Daiso, ‘kiap’ the sweet potatoes and place them in the tin, and head to the cashier.
No need for plastic bags at all.
Please consider doing your part for the environment!
