Tamago-EN just might be my new favorite place for desserts. We’d actually popped by yesterday evening to redeem a Fave voucher for dinner but alas! ‘Takeaway option’ actually meant takeaway ONLY. So we did not redeem the meal but ordered dessert instead. This is the Pineapple Tapioca Souffle Pancake ($12.80) and it is delicious!
Then we headed upstairs to redeem yet another Fave voucher at Pastamania. Actually my darling’s the one buying all these vouchers. My life would be terribly boring without him, methinks. I’d probably just eat at MOS Burger or Greendot – same meals all the time. Hahaha!
I don’t usually dine at Pastamania. I don’t even know why. Maybe I had a less-than-satisfactory meal once, a long time ago, and didn’t see any reason to venture back again.
However, this time I picked the (a la carte) Seafood Tom Yum ($12.90) pasta (linguine, no less). And it exceeded my expectations! I hate al dente pasta. I prefer pasta that’s softer. And Pastamania nailed it. Of course, my favorite pasta’s still from Greyhound Cafe in BANGKOK (NOT SG). This Seafood Tom Yum pasta is more tangy than spicy and the portion’s just right. However, for some strange reason, I wanted to add chili padi to it. But I didn’t want to make the chef feel insulted so I did not request for chili padi lah.
His Fave deal for Pastamania cost just $10.90 and it came with garlic bread and soup (choice of mushroom or chicken minestrone) PLUS a drink, on top of 21 pasta options.
He chose fusilli pasta, which is not my favorite. I tried cooking it once and for some reason, it took forever to cook and still remained freaking hard. XD (I must have picked the wrong brand or something) Pastamania’s version was OK, served steaming hot and the homemade tomato sauce was decent. The meatballs are the dense, firm kind, which sadly, aren’t my favorite. [I’m so picky. I know]
And I guess I really enjoyed dining at Pastamania because the guy at the entrance was SO welcoming and friendly AND chatty. And everyone else inside the restaurant left us alone. After we were done with our meal, we still had fun playing a mobile game together and NOBODY tried to make us leave. Had a meal recently at Dining in Garden at Bishan Library and staff came by TWICE to tell us chatting was not allowed. But my darling eats a little slower than I do. So it’s not like we’re sitting around after we’re done with our meal. (@_@)

Anyway, I guess we should enjoy these moments of being allowed to dine-in at restaurants and cafes. Judging from what’s happening in other countries, it seems we might be headed down the same path. So if you want to get your baking essentials from Phoon Huat now, you should.
