Recently, I’ve been loving the soup packs and pasta sauces purchased from Saybons. I do especially love cooking pasta at home as I can include all the ingredients I like, and have none of those I don’t. Take this Spicy Arrabiatta Pasta, for instance, which I’ve served alongside stir-fried mushrooms (3 kinds: shiitake, white and brown button mushrooms) and the veggies I had in the fridge. I like to cook a little extra for dinner, which I keep in the fridge overnight and then heat up for a quick breakfast the next day (as you can see in the picture above). Still looks and tastes great! Saybons’ sauces don’t come with preservatives so take note of the expiry dates and storage requirements, ya?

For those who prefer something milder, I’d recommend the Mushroom Carbonara Pasta Sauce that you see in the picture below. Definitely won’t make you tear up! Also, it’s delicious without making you feel ‘jelak’ like many carbonara sauces do.

I used pappadelle pasta with this sauce. These lovely ribbons of pasta go so well with the sauce. And yes, you have to pick the right pasta for the sauces you use/buy. For the spicy arrabiatta sauce, I used fusilli pasta.

As for hot soup… I simply ADORE Saybons’ Seafood Bisque Soup. They use crab and prawn to make this soup so you may just find a sliver of crab meat in your soup. Yum!

I definitely prefer buying their soup packs and heating them up at home myself. I have found that in their cafes, sometimes the soup can seem rather diluted. I’m not sure if it’s condensation from the lid of the pot, the soup not being stirred properly before they ladle it out, or it simply was watered down. But with the soup packs, there’s no such issue.

The weather’s pretty crazy huh? It was raining so heavily yesterday and this morning I woke up to more rain. Can’t help wanting to stay indoors and keep warm. Delicious hot soup that you simply have to heat up is a godsend. No prep work, no need to purchase / wash / cut / cook anything. Yay!
