It’s not my first time ordering from CDL’s eMall – read about the first order here. Why order from this eMall instead of GrabFood / Deliveroo / FoodPanda? Well, there’s free delivery if you spend a minimum of $30 across (a maximum of) 3 food outlets within the same mall. It’s brilliant! You can get Western food, Thai food, and bubble tea all in the same order! And that’s exactly what I did! Spent just $30.50 and I’d gotten Seafood Marinara pasta from ASTONS Specialties, two servings of Tom Yum Seafood Soup from Central Thai Kitchen, and what was supposed to be an ‘Avocado Smoothie with Lava’ from The Whale Tea. All the items are from City Square Mall.
The reason I ordered from the eMall… is this ad I just kept seeing on Facebook. It must have appeared a dozen times:

By the way, many of the stated “56% off” items will be listed as being sold out / unavailable on the website. A bit clickbait-ish, but oh well. I got the tom yum soup at $5.60 (usual price $12.73). And it’s really good. Sour and spicy and just so shiok! I emptied both bowls of soup into a pot and added tofu and glass noodles. Truly delicious.

Unfortunately, I was given the wrong bubble tea order. I’d paid for an avocado smoothie but I received a mango smoothie. Bummer. Suffice to say I was whale-y disappointed by The Whale Tea. Definitely won’t order bubble tea from this outlet again. The mango tasted syrupy and it was wayyyyy too sweet. I’d ordered a 0% sugar avocado smoothie and this is what they gave me. Haiz.

And in case you’re thinking that hey, it’s National Day and a public holiday… if I ordered food delivery for dinner on a public holiday, there’s sure to be some c*ck-ups, right? But I’d picked the 3pm to 3.30pm timeslot on purpose. The lunch service should be over and people are unlikely to be getting dinner yet. Staff *should* be able to cope with orders to be sent out at 3pm.
Thankfully, ASTONS and Central Thai Kitchen didn’t disappoint. I loved the seafood marinara pasta and the mushroom soup it came with (even came with croutons packed separately wor!)

And not pictured is the cup of KOI bubble tea my darling surprised me with. He saved the day! I whale-y love KOI’s Yakult Green Tea w/ bubble, aloe vera and konjac.
