Milksha: Bubble Tea Chain Also Sells Bentos & More!

A friend gave us a little stack of $5 Milksha vouchers so we’ve been drinking more bubble tea than we should! Oops! So far, my current favourite drinks to order are their Earl Grey Rich Milk Tea and Refreshing Orange Green Tea. <- Got these for my mother and sister to try as well. Mom liked the ROGT… till my sister said it’s just syrup. (@_@) I checked their website and Milksha states they use “sweet Taiwanese orange juice”, and honestly, it tastes like Peel Fresh juice to me. So which is it? Maybe Milksha can share a little more some day. In any case, I think my darling and I will just use the vouchers for the munchies like mushrooms and sausages next time. 😛

The outlet at Tampines One sells bentos and snacks apart from their drinks. And we’ve tried the Braised Drumstick Bento, Braised Pork Belly Bento, Taiwan Sausage and Fried Oyster Mushroom. I won’t say I’m a big fan of the bentos. The drumsticks are not very big so you might have to purchase additional items like the Taiwan Sausage, Crispy Salted Chicken or the Fried Oyster Mushroom to “jia liao” (and make it a satisfying and filling meal). As for the Pork Belly Bento… there was all of one slice of pork belly. So, again, we’d have to buy extra food. 😀

And as for the Fried Oyster Mushroom… wah! If you actually get to try them, you must be REALLY lucky! It was so hard to get our hands on these. Previously, we were told that oh it’s a Monday and the mushrooms were sold out over the weekend blah blah blah. Only on a subsequent visit did we get to try them.

They really don’t look like much. Maybe even a little burnt? But this spicy version of their fried mushrooms is so yummy! 😀

The pictures can be a tad misleading. You see two Taiwan Sausages there, right? But it’s $2.60 EACH. Not 2 for $2.60!

We also tried 2 out of the 3 (new) Kyoho Grape drinks. The Kyoho Grape Green Tea just tastes like… grape gummy to me. The Kyoho Grape Frostea with Milk Foam is much more interesting. I think we might order it again.

Another bubble tea chain that sells munchies aside from their drinks is R&B. This outlet at Oasis Terraces sells tea leaf eggs. I didn’t get them as I’m not really a fan of TLE. But if you think they’re worth a try, do let me know!

It’s interesting how bubble tea shops no longer sell just bubble tea. And I’m reminded of how some KOI outlets sell macarons too (like the one in Junction 8). Smart! Make customers spend more buying a variety of items from your shop, even if they may not seem exactly complementary to begin with… like tea leaf eggs and bubble tea? Hmm…
