We FINALLY managed to get our passports stamped last week! Since COVID reached our shores, I’ve not gone out of SG at all. And because of all the pregnancy complications last year, I refused to leave SG even when borders opened… ‘cos the thought of suddenly going into labor while overseas was too hard to bear. Now Melody’s 6 months old so we’re breathing a little easier, sleeping a lot more, and getting the urge to travel again. And this time, we’re dipping our toes into the water… by heading to JB. Haha! After more than 3 years of staying put in SG, even heading into JB feels like a real treat OK. Dropped baby off at Mom’s and we went to JB to shop, eat and marvel at the increasingly attractive exchange rate. Muahaha.
SO… this post is about the diapers. But I’ll just add that we also headed to Toppen Shopping Centre which is linked to the IKEA store. Bought the PLUFSIG folding gym mat (for use in Melody’s playpen) at RM 99 or S$29.64 after conversion. In SG, that same mat goes for S$49.
Across the road from Toppen / IKEA is AEON Tebrau. We headed to the supermarket to get diapers and organic produce (so much cheaper to get organic veggies in JB!) I draw the line at getting infant milk powder because I’m worried that if there’s a recall, I won’t even be notified as I don’t follow Malaysian news. Diapers are pretty safe so…

While I was picking out the veggies, my darling went to the diaper aisle and got 2 packs of Drypers Wee Wee Dry. They were going at RM29.99 for most of the sizes…. and that’s under S$9 per pack! Also, as you’ve seen in the very first picture above, there was even a freebie given out by the promoter auntie – a 600ml pack of Drypers Head to Toe (shampoo+body wash). So *ahem* cheap already and still got freebie?!
In comparison… in SG… the promo is S$31.70 for 2 packs. (3 days’ ago at FairPrice Finest, Waterway Point) And there’s no free gift. Haiyah.

And I also spotted Huggies Airsoft going at RM 35.99 (S$10.78) vs the Huggies Gold Airsoft in SG (going at S$22.15). I don’t know if there’s a difference between our “Gold” version and JB’s non-gold one. But it’s double the price. Same baby models on the packaging though.

I also spotted other brands like this molfix… so perhaps we’ll let Melody try some other diaper brands in future.

I read somewhere on Instagram that when you have a baby… you’ll suddenly realise you have to ask your parents for permission to go out again. Hahaha! SO TRUE!
Recently, Melody’s favourite thing to do when in public is exercise her vocal cords. She’ll scream AHHHHhhhhhhhh~ if left on her own for a minute. So we have to take turns having our meal. Someone needs to carry her / entertain her / take her for a walk while the other eats. If she boards a plane with us now, she’ll be THAT annoying infant wailing up in the air. LOL.
I think the next time we’ll head into JB again is when Melody’s diapers are about to run out. Haha! Last week, the exchange rate at the moneychanger’s in AEON was S$1:RM3.34 and it should be even more attractive this week. We definitely want to buy more stuff for the baby but… do we dare to bring the baby along the next time? Hmm…
