Had lunch yesterday at Waterdrop Teahouse in Fo Guang Shan temple and it was as I’d imagined. A very chill place to dine where staff are happy and friendly. When our rojak was served, the lady came over to our table, saw that there’s two of us but she’d brought only one fork, so she joked that perhaps my darling could feed me. LOL. The rojak ($3.50) is really tasty. We’d ordered the rojak for takeaway previously so we knew it’d be good. A pal of mine volunteers at FGS and he told me the food here is delicious as it’s prepared mindfully. So… what better place to dine in when you’re in Punggol?

He ordered the Oyster Mushroom Rice ($5.50) while I opted for the tried-and-tested Rendang Rice (also $5.50). The battered oyster mushrooms were crispy without being oily and my rendang rice came with many chunks of potato. It’s vegetarian food that I think most people will enjoy – even those who are meat lovers.

The Kueh Pie Tee was out of stock by lunchtime yesterday so we’re assuming it’s really good and something we must order during our next visit:

I’m looking forward to having a meal here again. The vibe is chill, the food is tasty, and they even serve interesting beverages like the Cappuccino Shake ($4.50), Black Soya Milk ($3.50 hot, $4.50 cold) and even Pearl Milk Tea ($3.50, served on weekends only)!
I suppose even students would enjoy dining here. The air-conditioned dining area of the cafe also doubles up as a display area for the merchandise on sale. There’s a dazzling array of Buddhist paraphernalia. We saw many statues of the Buddha and the Goddess of Mercy. My darling pointed to one particular Guanyin statue and remarked that it probably costs about $500 or so. And I took a look at the pricetag… if it was to believed (assuming I’m looking at the pricing instead of some serial number or something), the item costs over eleven thousand dollars *GULP*. Perhaps just study here (if it’s allowed in future) and enjoy some pearl milk tea and delectable vegetarian food, and you’ll probably be blessed with many distinctions.

Directions: When you’ve reached Fo Guang Shan temple, head towards the carpark entrance, like the lady in the pink top is doing. You’ll get your temperature taken and you do your SafeEntry check-in. Then follow the signs to the lift lobby and take the lift up to the third floor where the Waterdrop Teahouse is located. Pick any table you like and indicate on the laminated order sheet the items you wish to order then head over to the counter to make payment. You’ll probably get a buzzer (for drinks) and the food will most likely be served to you – so make sure you’ve indicated your Table Number on the order sheet. Enjoy!
