It’s been a really long time since I last had a meal at London Fat Duck. There used to be an outlet at Waterway Point in the past so it was very convenient to pop by for delicious roast duck. My darling asked if he could ‘dabao’ any lunch for me from PLQ today, and a quick check of the mall’s directory showed there’s a London Fat Duck outlet there so it was a no-brainer. London Fat Duck, please!

I wanted their noodles! Here’s a picture of what they looked like in 2016:

Used to be called the ‘London Roast Duck Noodles’ and cost $8.80. There used to be both a soup as well as a dry version.

But horror of horrors… they don’t sell these noodles anymore! *wail*

And to make matters worse, the duck doesn’t even come deboned anymore. You have to PAY for the deboning service: $6 for half a duck or $12 for the whole duck. <- That actually seems quite pricey as $12 might get you a whole duck at other places.

So my darling bought me a quarter of a duck for $19.80 and the staff were kind enough to include the drumstick too. Yum! And their plain rice costs $1.80. Then you have to add GST to all of these. Haiz… My lunch cost $23.11! (@_@)

I think there are only two London Fat Duck outlets left now: at Scotts Square and PLQ mall. *ahem* I wouldn’t be surprised if even these two were to shut soon.

There’s absolutely no doubt that the duck is good, among the best you can find in Singapore. But in terms of value-for-money for the average Singaporean… hmm… they do leave more to be desired.

And honestly, the duck is best enjoyed deboned. And instead of helping customers enjoy your food in the best way possible, you’d like to charge them for deboning? Hmm. It’s like a bubble tea store telling me to pay for a boba straw as they’ll only provide the basic drink straws. Then how do I enjoy the boba? Rip a hole in the plastic lid then gulp it all down? Yeah, might work but that’s hardly enjoyable.

So this probably isn’t the best place for a first date. Otherwise you’ll be picking bits of bone from between your teeth while trying to look demure. Wahahahaaaaa~

Oh well… if you don’t mind paying extra for the deboning service or you actually don’t fancy duck meat sans bone, go ahead and enjoy a meal at London Fat Duck. 🙂 Here’s the current menu and pricing:
