After our lunch at Lucky Chicken Rice yesterday, we made our way to the Barbie ‘House of Dreams’ exhibition at ION Orchard. It’s free for all to visit, so why not? And I have to say that, THANKFULLY, it was worth our time. Was secretly afraid that my darling would visit the exhibition with me then ask… “THAT’S it?!” Wahahaa! I think we were both impressed by the over-600 dolls on display (all safely behind locked glass cabinets so don’t worry about your children stealing or breaking the dolls!) and here I have pictures of some of them…

I have to say that despite having more than a few Barbie dolls at home, I do not own any of these uber-rare ones. Boohoo. BUT… I do own the Fan Bingbing Barbie doll wearing the ‘dragon robe’ or dragon gown, and this Barbie is not her…

Do also check out the Jian Yang dolls. He’s the famous Singaporean collector of Barbie dolls – owning some 12,000 dolls?! – and the one who curated this exhibition.

I don’t know what you think about guys who own / play with dolls but based on what I know… he’s not gay lah. Anyway, as you have seen, there are some dolls which really do appreciate in value, so it’s not all child’s play ya!
He’s also very talented when it comes to fashion design, having launched his own book titled ‘#Flushable Fashion’ some time back. Here are just two of his handmade dresses modeled by Barbie dolls…

If you’re a fan of Barbie, this is certainly one exhibition not to be missed. And, of course, there are Barbie dolls (the normal kind, not the uber-rare ones) you can purchase at the exhibition – just scan their respective QR codes and make your purchase. They’ll be delivered to you. I didn’t buy anything but oh… it was tempting.

After exiting from the MRT station, head towards the lift lobby at ION, and take the lift to level 4. Exit, turn left, look to your left and you’ll see the very pink entrance to the exhibition. That’s where you have to go.
*They’ve run out of the free sticker sheets. Oh well.
**There might be a lady with clipboards asking you to do a survey when you’re almost done with viewing the exhibition. (Up to you whether you want to do it or not. No freebie whatsoever).
