No blogpost is complete w/o a photo of my mini me. 😀

Let’s just say I wasn’t too enthusiastic about heading to Sengkang Grand Mall today. I expected it to be really crowded since it’s a Public Holiday. But my darling (not the one strapped into the car seat) wanted to check out the new Mothercare store (it’s really small, by the way), so we found ourselves having lunch at the mall today. Sanook Kitchen looked the most promising as there’s enough space between the rows of tables to manoeuvre Melody’s stroller. She’d fallen asleep in her stroller during the short walk from the HDB carpark (with free parking) to Sengkang Grand Mall. LOL. And when we got to the mall, my darling asked if we’d bump into our pal J who lives nearby. I thought it’d be unlikely since the mall’s anything but tiny and you may not be able to find someone even if you’d arranged to meet there. But lo and behold… when we were done placing our order (via QR code at our table), we looked up and saw that seated two tables away was J and his ENTIRE family. Muahaha! This scary law of attraction. I hope my darling says “What if we strike Toto on Monday?!”

SURPRISINGLY TASTY: Stir-fried Kway Teow with Beef & Kai Lan $7.90++

The kway teow is da bomb, I tell you. So silky smooth and so tasty – what secret sauce do they use here?! You’ll even forget that there’s not much kai lan and some of the slices of beef were a little overcooked. This kway teow can be eaten on its own! Not too pricey too. Can try ah, you guys!

Clear Tom Yum Seafood Soup $7.90++ and add $1++ for white rice

Interestingly, I think the staff forgot we’d ordered the soup and rice. After I was done with the kway teow, his tom yum seafood soup had not arrived! So he had to get out of his seat and go look for the lady in black, who seems to be the Manager here. Within a couple of minutes, his soup and rice was served. Haiyah. *Also, one of the wait staff even brought over a platter of kangkong (which we had not ordered!) so he had to go look for the guy and return the kangkong.

[To my darling: doesn’t this remind you of the ‘Kangkong and Kailan’ incident? Heh heh]

The clear tom yum soup was really addictive. There’s not much else – like two small chunks of fish, one prawn, some tiny bits of squid, mushrooms, and that’s about it. But that soup is delicious. I would recommend getting takeaway… and then adding more ingredients when you’re home. Maybe some tofu, tomato, more seafood!

We picked the table closest to the (free) water and cups. We could help ourselves to the water (plus refills). ‘Cos you pay the service charge here but erm… they’re too busy, especially on a public holiday.

I did also get bubble tea from The Alley after our meal… and immediately regretted it as the drink tasted so weird…

I had the Royal No. 9 Milk Tea w Crystal Pearl topping. Cost a total of $6. Wouldn’t order this again.

Anyhow…

Here’s my darling saying… Till Next Time. 😛
